Charles De Ketelaere received advice and encouragement from both coach Stefano Pioli and teammate Rafael Leao after failing to score his first Milan goal.

The big signing of the summer from Club Brugge cost €32m plus bonuses and a percentage of the sell-on fee, but is so far yet to make his mark.

In 27 competitive games for the Rossoneri, the Belgian provided one assist, but also missed several absolute sitters, including a free header in the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur.

There was also a big miss in last night’s 1-0 win over Monza in Serie A, only adding to his obvious lack of confidence.

Pioli told DAZN that De Ketelaere “just needs a goal” to break through that mental block and can flourish from there.

The 21-year-old returned to social media after a three-month gap and immediately received support from his teammate Rafael Leao too.

“It’s coming,” wrote the Portuguese star, assuring De Ketelaere that the goal will arrive eventually.

CDK wasn’t quite brave enough to leave the Instagram post open to everyone, so fans did not get their opportunity to wish him well – or hurl insults, depending on their approach.

  1. Leao certainly wasn’t talking about his contract anyway. CDK miss was awful but the Thiaw miss was even worse and not a word about that.
