Rafael Leao presented his autobiography today and explained why he ‘could not leave Milan, as they were close to me even during the most difficult moments of my life’ and he sees his future with the Rossoneri.

The Portugal international has released his first book, called ‘Smile: My life between football, music and fashion’ and held a press conference at the Mondadori store in Piazza Duomo this evening.

It saw him speak from the stage about the themes of the book, revealing his whole family support Benfica, but the Portuguese club never attempted to sign him when he was a teenager.

He also spoke to journalists afterwards in one-on-one situations.

“I could not leave Milan, they were always close to me, even during the most difficult moments of my life,” said Leao, who recently signed a new contract with the Rossoneri.

“I chose the Number 10 jersey because Alessandro Del Piero had it, but also many other champions who wore it and are my idols. The 10 is different, it is for players who bring something different to the pitch. I wanted to wear it because it was an important number in the history of Milan and I feel that I am important player too.”

There have been many reports of a potential approach in the summer from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United and more. So where does Leao see himself in future?

“At Milan.”
