According to Tuttosport, James Rodriguez is not in Rafa Benitez’s plans at Everton, so the Colombian could take a pay cut to join Milan, but the Rossoneri prefer Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.

The Rossoneri are on the lookout for a new creative midfielder who can replace Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkey international joined Inter on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Milan in June.

James Rodriguez is one of the players monitored by the Rossoneri along with Isco, Hakim Ziyech, Dani Ceballos, Nikola Vlasic and Josip Ilicic.

Tuttosport reports Everton could let James leave Goodison Park in the summer as he is not in Rafa Benitez’s plans.

Milan are on very good terms with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes and that could facilitate the deal, with the Colombian open to taking a pay cut to join the Rossoneri.

Milan target James: ‘I don’t know where I will play’

However, Milan have doubts regarding the player’s fitness and their No.1 target remains Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.

Talks between the Rossoneri and the Blues have been put on hold as the Blues’ economic demands are too high, so Milan continue to consider their options but still hope to convince the Premier League giants at the end of the summer transfer window.
