Celta Vigo boss Rafa Benitez confirms Gabri Veiga is ‘close’ to joining Napoli: ‘We must be realistic.’
The Serie A champions are on the verge of signing the 21-year-old for €36m, including add-ons. Veiga was an unused substitute in Celta’s 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad on Saturday night.
“We are close to finalising a deal, we must be realistic and say that the agreement is close,” Benitez said at a press conference after the game.
“We spoke before the match, and deploying him today would have been risky. Luckily, his teammates did well and didn’t need him to be involved.”
Napoli started the new Serie A campaign with a 3-1 win over Frosinone on Saturday.
