Stefan Radu’s agent confirms Simone Inzaghi wanted him to join Inter and his current situation at Lazio under Maurizio Sarri is ‘not the best.’

The Romania international defender turns 35 later this month and was due to leave as a free agent over the summer before signing a new contract in mid-August.

However, he is yet to make an appearance for the Biancocelesti so far this season.

“Radu’s situation at Lazio is not the best,” agent Matteo Materazzi told Radio Incontro Olympia.

“He has not played at all this season in any competition and for him, after so many tournaments at the top level, it’s a strange moment.”

The representative assured there are no injury concerns that are behind the lack of playing time under Sarri.

“Stefan is in great shape, he is training like the real professional that he is, and obviously coach Sarri makes the decisions. He knows Radu will be ready whenever called upon.”

Could there be regrets that the defender didn’t follow Inzaghi and Joaquin Correa to Inter this summer?

“It’s no secret that Inzaghi wanted him at Inter. Stefan had several offers on the table, as he was a free agent, including from the Nerazzurri.

“Radu chose with his heart, so he remained at Lazio. As a fan, it’s tough seeing him on the sidelines, but football can change from one moment to the next.

“Stefan started out as a left-back, so he can play in a four-man defence, or even in the centre with Francesco Acerbi suspended against Inter.”
