Racist Fiorentina fan given five-year ban

The Fiorentina fan who aimed racist abuse at Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been banned from stadiums for five years.

The incident occurred three weeks ago, after the final whistle of Napoli’s Serie A victory at the Stadio Franchi.

An investigation managed to identify the Fiorentina supporter.

Koulibaly didn’t sleep for two nights after receiving racial abuse

He has now received a five-year ban from stadiums as punishment for hurling racist insults, a banning order known as a Daspo.

The FIGC also held its own investigation and the results of that are expected next week, according to La Repubblica newspaper.

Fiorentina have done everything possible to identify and ban the perpetrator, so they hope not to receive further disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, a group of Empoli ultras have also received banning orders after they attempted to attack Venezia fans with baseball bats on September 11.

There is a three-year ban for four of them, though two supporters had previous Daspo orders, so received a five-year and eight-year ban.
