A racist and derogatory banner aimed at Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan appeared and has since been removed from the perimeter of the Bluenergy Stadium ahead of Udinese’s visit from Milan in Serie A coming up this weekend.

Maignan continues to be subjected to racist abuse from Udinese supporters, which has happened the last two times that Friulani and Rossoneri have met.

The France international walked off the pitch during a Serie A match between Udinese and Milan in January 2024 after repeated racist chants and monkey noises from supporters behind the goal.

He had informed the match officials, a statement was read out over the stadium tannoy as per Serie A protocol, but the chants continued, which led to Maignan walking off the field of play. The game later resumed and resulted in a 3-2 victory for Milan

Four supporters were banned for life as a result of the incident.

Maignan abuse continues ahead of Udinese-Milan

Unfortunately, the abuse that Maignan was subjected to continued the next time that Milan and Udinese met, as racist banners were displayed ahead of the match in San Siro in October.

One of the banners came with a warning that read: ‘Just a greeting today, an appropriate tribute in Udine’.

Now, ahead of the Udinese-Milan match at the Bluenergy stadium on Friday night, yet more racist banners have appeared, one that read: ‘Man of sh**’ according to reports from multiple outlets in Italy.

The banners appeared nearby the stadium on Tuesday night and were removed on Wednesday.
