Racing Club Avellaneda have confirmed the imminent arrival of Ricardo Centurion from Genoa for €4m.

They were his first professional club and still owned 30 per cent of the player’s contract.

This means they have reached an agreement to buy out the remaining 70 per cent from Genoa for around €4m.

“All the Racing fans want him back and he’ll probably blow the game wide open,” President Victor Blanco told TyC Sports.

“The fans deserved to have a player like Centurion to cheer on from the stands. The plan is to buy out 100 per cent of his contract and we intervened to ensure he didn't join Malaga. Our Coach spoke to him and convinced the player to return here."

The troubled Argentine had only joined Genoa in the summer for €5m and barely featured.

He was linked with Malaga and Boca Juniors, but negotiations broke down and he pushed for a return to his home club, which he left in 2015.
