Adrien Rabiot admits Juventus would be in the race for the Scudetto had they beaten Inter and says ‘you’ve never seen my true self.’

The France international is in his third season in Turin and has shown signs of improvement over the last few weeks under Massimiliano Allegri. “Perhaps you’ve never seen the real Rabiot; maybe I’ve lacked consistency,” he told DAZN.

“I always give my best on the pitch, but it’s difficult to keep the same level in every game. The one against Inter and the most recent matches have been of high level, but it’s tough to repeat them week in and week out.

“I’ve improved under Allegri. He wants to win and develop players. He motivates me and it’s nice to have a coach who challenges you. I used to play as a No.10 when I was younger. Now, I like to play deep in midfield. I am a No.6 or No.8.”

Having qualified for the Coppa Italia against Inter, Juventus have one last chance to win a trophy this season. The Bianconeri have never ended a campaign empty-handed since 2010-11 with Luigi Delneri in charge.

The Old Lady ended a 16-game unbeaten run against Inter earlier this month and Rabiot believes that Juventus could have been in the race for the title, had they beaten their rivals in Turin.

“It would have changed everything. Our approach would have been different and the same goes for the opposing teams. Milan and Inter would have had more pressure. It’s never easy to play knowing that Juventus are behind.

“I am looking forward to playing the Coppa Italia Final because the last Serie A game made me irritable, same for the Supercup. We deserved to win both games and we want to take our revenge.”

The Bianconeri are winless against Inter this season, having lost the most recent two meetings and drawing the first at San Siro in October. Rabiot hasn’t found the net in 41 appearances with Juventus this season and his €7m-a-year contract at the Allianz Stadium expires in June 2023.

  1. Yeah you’re the only player who has improved under Allegri, Everyone else on Juve squad are going through hell and have become less effective and more frustrated.
