Reports in the Italian papers this morning have differing ideas on how the two sides will line up this evening.

The biggest question around Napoli is whether Ospina will get his debut in goal or continue with Orestis Karnezis, filling in while Alex Meret recovers from a fractured bone in his arm.

Fabian Ruiz has joined Faouzi Ghoulam and Amin Younes on the treatment table, so Piotr Zielinski faces no real competition for the midfield berth.

Milik scored in last week’s 2-1 victory over Lazio, so seems set to retain his centre-forward slot and push Dries Mertens on to the bench.

Although there were some rumours that Nikola Maksimovic would start rather than Raul Albiol, it seems to have been shelved.

Milan have numerous issues to deal with and make their first Serie A appearance of the season, after their opener with Genoa was postponed due to the Ponte Morandi tragedy in the port city.

This means Hakan Calhanoglu still has to sit out his one-match ban, while Andrea Conti, Cristian Zapata and Ivan Strinic are unavailable.

Higuain will therefore get his competitive Rossoneri debut in his old hunting ground, partnered by Suso and either Fabio Borini or new buy Samu Castillejo.

As things stand, Borini seems to be the favourite, keeping Jack Bonaventura in midfield and therefore no room for Chelsea loaner Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The other alternative, of course, is to push Bonaventura up into the trident on the left side.

Coach Gattuso also seems to be playing it safe at the back, where Mateo Musacchio is the favourite to play rather than big summer signing from Juventus Mattia Caldara.

This would be the first time in a competitive match that Musacchio and Alessio Romagnoli formed a centre-back partnership.

Ricardo Rodriguez starts on his 26th birthday.

Napoli (probable): Karnezis; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Allan, Hamsik; Zielinski; Callejon, Milik, Insigne

Milan (probable): G Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Biglia, Bonaventura; Suso, Higuain, Borini
