Fabio Quagliarella is desperate to prove Juventus correct in their decision to sign him outright from Napoli.

The Old Lady last week agreed to pay the Azzurri €10.5m to make his loan move permanent – despite the fact that he hasn't played a competitive match since January because of injury.

"It wasn't easy to take this decision, given that I'd only played for six months," he told Juventus Channel.

The Old Lady last week agreed to pay the Azzurri €10.5m to make his loan move permanent – despite the fact that he hasn't played a competitive match since January because of injury.

"It wasn't easy to take this decision, given that I'd only played for six months," he told Juventus Channel.

"But the club believes in me and that's given me great pleasure. This for me has been a mark of respect. I want to repay their trust.

"I hope that it'll be a great season, both for myself and for the team. I would like to score many goals, especially in the new stadium."

The Italian international damaged knee ligaments in the first League game of 2011 against Parma.

"I have a great desire to rejoin my teammates in training, to start doing normal things again, things that I'd always done up until 6 January," he added.

"I've had the opportunity to keep training whilst on holiday, with running exercises and strength work on the operated leg. Then, obviously, I enjoyed a bit of relaxation by the sea."

Quagliarella will be surrounded by new faces in Turin, such as boss Antonio Conte and midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

"The Coach asked me how the injury's healing. He's experienced this type of situation before and understands the reactions that can occur.

"Then he asked me if I'm up for the new season, but there was no need to answer that…

"Pirlo? He's a great player and I've always said that – even to him. He's a player who can create goals at any moment, especially for our strikers."
