Fabio Quagliarella is expected to start his first competitive Italy match for almost 10 years when they host Liechtenstein and could make history as the oldest Azzurri scorer.

The Euro 2020 qualifier kicks off at 19.45 GMT in Parma.

It’s widely reported the current Serie A Capocannoniere will be in the starting XI of Roberto Mancini’s side this evening.

If so, it’ll be his first Nazionale start since a 1-1 friendly away to Switzerland on June 5, 2010, when he was also on the scoresheet.

Quagliarella has not started a competitive international since the 3-2 victory over Cyprus on October 14, 2009.

Curiously, that 2010 World Cup qualifier also took place at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.

If the Sampdoria striker does find the net this evening, he will make history as the oldest ever Italy scorer aged 36 years and 54 days.
