Sampdoria veteran Fabio Quagliarella makes his 500th Serie A appearance this evening and so far has 176 goals.

The 38-year-old is in the starting XI for tonight’s match against Parma at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

It is the final round of the season, but also an historic occasion, as Quagliarella reaches his 500th top flight appearance.

So far, the striker has 176 goals and 50 assists under his belt.

He becomes only the fifth forward to achieve this tally after Francesco Totti’s 619, Roberto Mancini on 541, Silvio Piola on 537 and Alberto Gilardino 514.

Quagliarella started his career at Torino, also representing Ascoli, Sampdoria, Udinese, Napoli and Juventus at this level.

He made his debut in Torino’s 2-1 win over Piacenza on May 14, 2000, aged just 17 years, three months and 13 days.

Quagliagol had to wait until December 21, 2005 for his first Serie A goal, the winner when Ascoli beat Treviso 1-0.
