Quagliarella matched Gabriel Batistuta’s record of netting in 11 consecutive top-flight matches during Samp’s 4-0 victory over Udinese on Sunday, and Beppe Bozzo revealed the veteran was aiming to make history against his hometown club.
“An important target has been reached, even if the record is still joint,” he told Sampdorianews.
“Fabio has always looked forward in his career. He’s eager to break the record in his next game as he’s committed to always scoring goals.
“It’s true that if he were to score against his Napoli, one could speak of a fairy tale, but fate comes into play and I don’t think the conditions are there.
“Fabio is an exemplary professional, sincere, with great human values, and is capable of being loved by everyone, even his opponents.
“That’s the case with only a few other players, champions in the ilk of Buffon, Totti and Del Piero.
