“There are some games where you must sacrifice yourself for the group. There are times when you have to help the team and others where the team has to help the striker to score goals.
“I think this is the right spirit to continue with.”
Antonio Candreva scored the only goal against the Granata and Quagliarella insisted the whole team ‘suffered’ for the three points.
Sampdoria are 10th in Serie A with 35 points from 28 games and the striker wants to ‘reach 40 points as soon as possible’.
“We knew it would be a match where we needed to sacrifice and help the team,” he said. “In some moments of the season, that’s how it is.
“It was necessary to know how to suffer and the spirit shown was the right one. In the first half we had some good chances and we took advantage of them. One with [Albin] Ekdal, then the goal and mine off the post.
“In the second, we suffered a bit more. Defenders and midfielders played a great game, conceding little to Toto.
“It was a fundamental win, because Torino were recovering. We knew we had to win, we weren’t in a calm position but now I want to reach 40 points as soon as possible and then have a calm end to the season.”
