Milan may not have managed to beat Atalanta, but Rafael Leao put on a shining performance for the Rossoneri.

Stefano Pioli’s side took the lead just three minutes into their Sunday evening clash with la Dea after a truly sensational solo goal from the Portuguese star, who dribbled down the wing and into the box before thundering a beautiful, curled shot into the far corner, putting Milan 1-0 up.

Despite the star efforts of Leao, Milan were not able to capitalise on their advantage and Atalanta secured an equaliser before half time from the penalty spot, forcing the two teams to share a point apiece after a testing 90-minute affair at San Siro.

La Gazzetta dello Sport were impressed by the hard work of Leao in Milan’s draw, writing: “The goal is graffiti by TvBoy, it appears from nowhere, but with style. He wants more, he is proactive, he creates for Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic.”

Corriere dello Sport showered praise on the Portuguese winger, underlining his contributions, saying: “He took revenge by silencing the critics. The goal was pure magic. The ingredients: elegance, dribbling and precision. The Portuguese immediately unlocked the match and found the net again in the league after five months. Amazing assists for Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic.”

Tuttosport noted how Leao proved to be a consistent threat across the match, commenting: “Evening as a technical leader. Ready to go and draw a rainbow that brings San Siro down. He’s in good condition, a constant danger for la Dea.”
