Lautaro Martinez maintained his hot streak in Inter’s 2-0 win over Lazio, earning praise for his goal and hard work at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 26-year-old Argentinian striker scored the opening goal of the match in the Italian capital on Sunday evening, putting the Nerazzurri ahead after 40 minutes when he burst forward and dribbled around Ivan Provedel to poke the ball into the back of the net.

It was a key win for Inter, allowing them to build a gap with second-place Juventus after the Old Lady’s painful draw with Genoa on Friday evening. For Lautaro, he netted his 17th goal in 22 games against Lazio, continuing to prove himself as one of the strongest strikers in the world.

La Gazzetta dello Sport praised Lautaro for his hard work throughout the match and impressive opener, writing: “The dedication is at least as beautiful as the goal, not at all simple, focused in his dribbling and moving underneath to get past the defender. As usual, a packed game.”

Corriere dello Sport echoed these sentiments, impressed with his decisiveness and ability to prove punishing, commenting: “Pure dynamite. This year, history has entrusted him with a role. He’s always there, ready to bite like a cobra.

“Marusic’s assist was a great gift for someone like him. Left Provedel drunk while dribbling and almost went into the goal with the ball. 15th goal in Serie A, 29th in 2023, Inter record. 16 duels, eleven won. LauToro.”

Tuttosport were a little less impressed than their counterparts, but still spoke highly of his work rate, writing: “It was an evening of effort until he attacked Marusic’s clumsy back pass. That was enough to seal the evening.”

Corriere della Sera touched on his continued contributions to Inter, saying: “Give me half the ball and I’ll organize an escape for you, the goal, from the left, is laborious, but he is focused and ruthless. There’s a piranha three goals away from the record of Nyers of ’52.”
