Former Catania CEO Pablo Cosentino was subjected to the same penalty, which could be extended to other figures from the club who are currently under house arrests.

The sentence was reportedly influenced by the hostile demonstrations by the club's supporters, and is therefore described by the court as intended to protect Pulvirenti's personal safety.

Pulvirenti may still be able to lift this ban depending on the final sentence that he will receive in the trial. For instance, should he be condemned to serve a full five years, the stadium ban could be cancelled.

As for Catania, their relegation to Serie D may be allayed, and the club may end up one step higher in Lega Pro instead.
