Christian Puggioni says he is 'delighted' to be making his Sampdoria debut in Saturday's Derby clash with Genoa.

The veteran goalkeeper is a lifelong fan of the Blucerchiati and is set to make his first appearance after first-choice shot-stopper Emiliano Viviano picked up a wrist injury against Pescara.

“There’s no better match for us to put into practice everything we’ve been working on with the coach since the summer,” Puggioni told Samp TV. “Genoa are above us in the table which means they've performed better.

"But at the same time I'm ready to wear the shirt I've always dreamed of in such an important match. We need to play with cool heads but passion in our hearts."
