Reports in France suggest Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make an offer to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter in January, avoiding his exit as a free agent.

The defender and his agent have confirmed several times he will not sign the new contract offer on the table, so his current deal is due to expire on June 30.

So far, PSG had been reticent to make a January bid, especially as they know he can be snapped up for nothing over the summer.

However, Foot Mercato claim this evening that President Nasser al-Khelaifi has taken matters into his own hands and is leading the negotiations with Inter personally.

It is possible that PSG will try to get Skriniar now for under €20m, therefore saving on the signing-on bonus that the player would otherwise be promised as a free agent.

His situation at San Siro has become increasingly tense with the news he rejected the contract, especially after he was sent off in the Serie A home defeat to Empoli.

Skriniar is set to sign a €9m per season contract in Paris, a good €3m more than Inter were offering for his salary.

Inter had turned down circa €60m from PSG last summer, confident that he would sign a new contract with them.
