Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Roma coach Jose Mourinho as they consider possible replacements for Christophe Galtier, reports from France suggest.

French journalist Santi Auona details how a round of talks recently took place between PSG advisor Luis Campos and the Roma coach, who has seemingly started to grow a little frustrated with things in the Italian capital.

The Ligue 1 giants have regularly been linked with a move for Mourinho, but now things could finally be different as Luis Campos and PSG look to find a proven coach who can lead a dressing room full of stars.

The Portuguese coach fits this bill, even if the Qatari-backed side’s dream choice is Zinedine Zidane. Also helping proceedings is the former Chelsea manager’s positive relationship with Luis Campos.

Mourinho is known to be a huge fan of PSG star Kylian Mbappe and he’d also find a close collaborator of his in the French capital, with his former Tottenham assistant coach João Sacramento part of Galtier’s staff in Paris.

Things are still at the early stages and no agreement has been reached yet between PSG and Roma, although their positive relationship would likely make negotiations go smoothly.

The Portuguese coach is contracted to the Giallorossi until June 2024 and was reportedly linked with both the Brazil and Portugal jobs before he publicly ruled out the idea of international management.

  1. Ironic that Mourinho grows frustrated at Roma who are unfairly shackled by financial restrictions while teams like PSG fragrantly ignore and abuse them.
