According to the latest reports in France, Tuchel is ready to adjust his 4-4-2 formation for a 4-3-3.

Ander Herrera was spotted training as part of the starting XI, replacing Verratti in the midfield with Marquinhos and Idrissa Gueye.

The alternative to Herrera’s more rugged, hard-working style would be Leandro Paredes, who provides more technique, but could be over-run by the Atalanta midfield.

There is also the theory posited by Paris United that a Marquinhos-Herrera-Paredes midfield would leave out Gueye, but there’s also the potential to move Marquinhos into a centre-back slot in place of Tiago Silva, leaving the midfield to Paredes, Gueye and Herrera.

The concern PSG must deal with when playing Atalanta is width, because Gian Piero Gasperini’s 3-5-2, or 3-4-1-2 depending on Papu Gomez’s role that day, pushes so much down the wings with Robin Gosens and Hans Hateboer.
