Gigio Donnarumma and Leo Messi received the Yashin Award and the Ballon d’Or in front of PSG fans yesterday and the Italy international pulled off decisive saves in a 0-0 draw against OGC Nice.

The 22-year-old started his seventh game with the Ligue 1 giants and was honoured by his club before the kick-off at the Parc des Princes.

On Monday, Donnarumma had won the Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in 2021, while his teammate Leo Messi was given the seventh Ballon d’Or in his career.

Both players showed their awards before Wednesday’s match against OGC Nice but Mauricio Pochettino’s side failed to get all three points and were held to a 0-0 stalemate.

“We knew it would be a tough game, we’re disappointed because we wanted to win in front of our fans,” Donnarumma said after the match.

“After every game we try to find positives from the negatives. We are going to try to be more solid and to win all the upcoming games. It won’t be easy, but we are going to do our best.”

PSG remain the Ligue 1 leader with 41 points. Olympique Marseille sit second with 29 points and a game in hand.
