Paris Saint-Germain reportedly failed in a deadline-day swoop for Inter midfielder Joao Mario.

According to L’Equipe, PSG came knocking for Joao Mario but did not receive a positive response from Inter.

The newspaper adds that despite the Nerazzurri maintaining no-one would leave, the offers made by the French giants were insufficient.

It follows an earlier report by Paris United that PSG were offered the Portugal international by his agent Kia Joorabchian.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old was a late inclusion in Inter’s XI for their Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Lazio on Thursday.

PSG did sign a midfielder in former Roma man Leandro Paredes, but L’Equipe writes their failure to bring in a second has ‘ruptured’ the relationship between Coach Thomas Tuchel and sporting director Antero Henrique.
