Christophe Galtier insists Gigio Donnarumma remains PSG’s starting goalkeeper despite Keylor Navas’ stay at the club.

The ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper had been in talks with Napoli during the summer transfer window, with the Partenopei wanting to sign him on a free transfer.

Keylor tried to negotiate a severance pay with the Ligue 1 giants after agreeing on a lower salary at the Stadio Maradona, but the goalkeeper and PSG failed to strike a deal so Keylor has remained in Paris.

Mauricio Pochettino rotated Keylor and Donnarumma last season, but Galtier has now picked the Italy international as the regular starter between the sticks in Paris.

“In terms of hierarchy, my choice is Gigio Donnarumma for No.1, and Keylor is fit to be No.2,” the French coach said at a press conference on Friday.

“Now that the transfer is closed, I don’t think too much about that. The No.2 is ready if there are injuries or suspensions. The hierarchy is established and will remain the same.”

Donnarumma collected 24 appearances across all competitions during his first season in Paris. He has conceded 27 goals in his first 30 games with the Ligue 1 giants.

The former Milan star joined PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after being named Player Of The Tournament at UEFA Euro 2020.
