PSG choose Luis Enrique, so Bologna keep Thiago Motta

Bologna may well keep hold of Thiago Motta, as L’Equipe claim today that Paris Saint-Germain are finalising the details with Luis Enrique instead.

The Ligue 1 giants need a new coach after deciding to sack Christoph Galtier this summer.

Julian Nagelsmann had been in advanced negotiations before the two parties realised they were not on the same page, while Roma boss Jose Mourinho was considered and then discarded as an option.

Thiago Motta had emerged as a favourite over the last couple of days, as it would’ve been a return to the club where he worked both as a player from 2012 to 2018 and then as the coach of their youth team in the 2018-19 season.

However, L’Equipe are confident that PSG are now working out the final details of their deal with Luis Enrique instead.

Luis Enrique was the coach of Roma in the 2011-12 campaign, then took Spain to the World Cup and had recently been linked with the Napoli job, which instead went to Rudi Garcia.
