According to reports in France, PSG owners have had contact with Tottenham director Fabio Paratici as a possible replacement for Leonardo.

The Ligue 1 giants could see Kylian Mbappé leave the club as a free agent in June. His contract expires in the summer and PSG have not reached an agreement to extend his contract in Paris.

Seeing Mbappé leave on a free transfer would be a massive disappointment for PSG owners who, according to Foot Mercato, are not impressed by Leonardo’s results at the club.

The former Inter and Milan coach sacked Thomas Tuchel one year ago with the German tactician who won the Champions League with Chelsea just six months later. PSG didn’t even manage to win the title in 2021-22, with Lille claiming the French champions’ crown.

According to the report, Leonardo is ‘no longer popular’ within the club so much so the owner Nasser Al Khelaifi is considering alternative options for the role.

One of the leading candidates would be Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici, who moved to North London in the summer after an 11-year spell at Juventus.

  1. Mama mia, it must be ‘so difficult’ being the SD/TD of a team like PSG.

Overblown transfer fees, exorbitant salaries and being able to buy (or get for free) some of the best players in the world must be some task.

Where is the challenge or skill? Can one really be judged in that role at a club like that?

Experts in the field like Marotta, Carnevali, Sabatini, etc and even Galliani in Milan‘s more constrained financial days deserve more recognition for pulling a rabbit out of the hat.
