Milan are trying to set up a new deal for Mike Maignan and top clubs around Europe are keenly following the talks, French reports suggest.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has consistently proved himself to be one of the best performers in Stefano Pioli’s squad since his arrival from Lille two years ago. He was vital in their Scudetto winning season and his absence last term coincided with their steep drop in form.

Maignan’s current contract with Milan expires in June 2026 and the club decided to launch talks regarding a new deal in the summer. Progress has proven slow and it’s clear talks will need to progress significantly before an agreement can be reached.

As reported by Foot Mercato, Maignan has asked Milan for a lucrative salary, reflective of his position as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and talks have struggled to move forward.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are all closely following the situation and have opened initial talks with his entourage.

Maignan currently earns around €2.8m net per season, far less than other top goalkeepers around the continent.
