Gianluca Scamacca is expected to miss his second consecutive pre-season friendly as Sassuolo prepare for a possible departure.

The 23-year-old Italian forward was one of the breakout stars of last season, scoring 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for the Neroverdi. His strong campaign saw many clubs around Europe set their sights on him, but his high price tag has meant a move away didn’t immediately materialise this summer.

As reported by SassuoloNews.net, Scamacca was absent for Sassuolo’s first pre-season friendly against Real Vicenza and now he’s on course to miss the second friendly against Jablonec.

The Neroverdi are currently in talks with both PSG and West Ham and concrete offers could arrive at some point next week, with less than a month left until leagues around Europe start to kick off.

Scamacca’s exclusion suggests that a departure isn’t far away now and so the club don’t want to take any possible injury risks in a friendly.
