According to reports in France, Italy international Marco Verratti could join Qatar Stars League club Al-Arabi after they struck a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, something Al-Hilal were unable to do.

It has been clear all summer that the Italian’s time at PSG was up after 11 years, as he was left out of the squad by coach Luis Enrique.

He had agreed personal terms with Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, but the club seemingly ran out of funds after a spending spree on the transfer market.

The clubs are allocated a certain amount of funds by sovereign wealth fund PIF and Al-Hilal used up too much to reach the €60m asking price.

Verratti isn’t exactly straying too far away, because he is expected to join Qatar Stars League outfit Al-Arabi instead.

Curiously, the President of Al-Arabi is in the Emir of Qatar’s family, so his relatives run Paris Saint-Germain.

It remains to be seen if Verratti will accept the move or hold out in case Al-Hilal can be given extra funds.

  1. He has been washed up for a while. Keep him and the old standards that cost Italy in the last two World Cups out of the squad. Let him become a Saudi tool. Stay out of Italy Marco.
