La Gazzetta dello Sport details how the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating clubs who have carried out suspicious deals with Juventus.
The Bianconeri are currently in the spotlight for both alleged falsified capital gains and secretly paying their players during the early stages of the COVID pandemic despite publicly stated that four months’ worth of wages had been waived. Andrea Agnelli and Juventus’ entire board of directors resigned last week.
The Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office have now turned the spotlight on a number of clubs friendly to Juventus who have conducted “favourable operations, with payments apparently far from fair value”. The investigators also believe that the close relationships between these clubs jeopardised “the fairness of the sporting competition”.
Clubs that fall under this umbrella include Sampdoria, Atalanta, Sassuolo, Empoli and Udinese, prompting investigators to cast a wide net.
Whilst partnerships in the world of football are nothing new and part of normal club management, the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office believe that it may have gone far beyond that in some cases.
