The Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office will hear from Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis as they investigate possible ‘blackmail’ from the club’s supporters.

Tensions have started to rise between the Partenopei’s supporters and De Laurentiis, stemming from the increased ticket prices and greater security at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

A number of the club’s ultras protested outside the stadium in Piazzale Tecchio ahead of the clash with Milan last weekend, unhappy with De Laurentiis’ latest decisions regarding ticket prices and security. Smoke bombs were lit in the stands and outside the stadium, and some violence also allegedly occurred.

As reported by Il Mattino, the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office are now investigating the behaviour of the Napoli fans and will speak to De Laurentiis, who is considered a ‘person informed of the facts’, in order to gain a greater understanding of the situation.

Gaetano Manfredi, the Mayor of Naples, will also be spoken to as the Public Prosecutor’s Office look into the possible ‘blackmail’ coming from some of the fans. The mayor has already stated his concerns regarding the Scudetto celebrations in the city.
