Juventus are expected to use Federico Bernardeschi as a left-back and Dejan Kulusevski upfront in the Supercoppa against Lorenzo Insigne and Hirving Lozano’s Napoli.

It kicks off on Wednesday at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia at 20.00 GMT.

The trophy, played between the Scudetto and Coppa Italia holders, will be decided after 90 minutes, extra time or even penalties.

Juve have very few options available to them in defence, as Merih Demiral has pulled out with injury, adding to COVID-19 cases Matthijs de Ligt and Alex Sandro.

Juve have very few options available to them in defence, as Merih Demiral has pulled out with injury, adding to COVID-19 cases Matthijs de Ligt and Alex Sandro.

Juan Cuadrado has recovered from COVID and is part of the Juventus squad to face Napoli, but it is still unsure whether he will start the game.

With that in mind, Bernardeschi could be used as a left-back, although he’d be attacking more than defending, as Andrea Pirlo’s system is a disguised 3-5-2.

Paulo Dybala is injured and Alvaro Morata disappointed in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Inter, so Kulusevski was tested alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in training today.

Weston McKennie and Arthur can also make their comebacks from the start after knocks.

Napoli are without Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen, who both have COVID-19, while Kevin Malcuit is a long-term absentee.

Andrea Petagna and Dries Mertens are both struggling with fitness issues and neither are 100 per cent fit.

It’s likely Petagna will start, with Mertens coming on during the second half.

The rest of the team remains largely unchanged, with Chucky Lozano, Piotr Zielinski and Insigne fanning out behind the centre-forward.

David Ospina is expected to take the gloves, while Pirlo already confirmed in his press conference that Wojciech Szczesny will be in goal for Juve.

Probable line-ups

Juventus: Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Bernardeschi; Chiesa, Bentancur, Arthur, McKennie; Kulusevski, Ronaldo

Napoli: Ospina; Di Lorenzo; Manolas, Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Bakayoko, Demme; Lozano, Zielinski, Insigne; Petagna
