Milan boss Stefano Pioli can’t rotate much against Spezia at the Stadio Picco amid injuries and suspensions, so Brahim Diaz, Sandro Tonali and Theo Hernandez are expected to start.

It kicks off at 17:00 GMT+1.

The Rossoneri need a win to keep their top-four finish hopes alive but have travelled to Spezia without several key players.

Rade Krunic and Junior Messias suffered injuries on Friday and remain in doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal second leg against Inter. Ismael Bennacer’s season is over following a knee injury. Rafael Leao, Alessandro Florenzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are injured, while Malick Thiaw is serving a one-match ban.

This means Pioli has little options to rotate at the Stadio Picco.

Spezia, currently in the relegation zone, are not in a better situation with Joao Moutinho, Emil Holm, Simone Bastoni, Daniel Maldini and Julius Beck injured, plus the suspended Kevin Agudelo.

Daniele Verde is favourite over Eldor Shomurodov to complete a front-three alongside Emanuel Gyasi and M’Bala Nzola who returns to the starting XI after a muscle injury.

Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu is expected to start in central midfield with Przemysław Wiśniewski and Dimitris Nikolaou in central defence.

Spezia-Milan: probable line-ups

Spezia (4-3-3): Dragowski; Amian, Nikolaou, Wisniewski, Reca; Bourabia, Ampadu, Ekdal; Gyasi, Nzola, Verde.

Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Pobega, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Rebic; Origi.
