Roma can leapfrog Udinese and Lazio in the league table with a win over strugglers Sampdoria this evening.

The match between the Blucerchiati and the Giallorossi kicks off at 17.30 UK time at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Jose Mourinho’s side, picking up tight league wins over Inter and Lecce but suffering frustrating losses to Real Betis in the Europa League. A good response today could see them gain two places in the table and rise into the top four.

Sampdoria still sit rock bottom of the Serie A table and Thiago Motta faces a tough task ahead of him. The Ligurian side edged out a 1-1 draw with Bologna last weekend and they’ll be hoping to pick up more points at home in a desperate bid to start escaping the relegation zone.

The home side cannot count on Jeison Murillo, Manuel De Luca or Harry Winks for this evening’s clash. Roma are without Zeki Celik, Ebrima Darboe, Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum, with Marash Kumbulla also in doubt.

Probable Serie A line-ups for Sampdoria vs Roma

Sampdoria (4-2-3-1): Audero; Bereszynski, Ferrari, Colley, Augello; Rincon, Vieira; Gabbiadini, Sabiri, Djuricic; Caputo.

Roma (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez; Karsdorp, Cristante, Matic, Spinazzola; Pellegrini, Zaniolo; Abraham.
