A lighter-hearted Lombardy derby sees Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza match up with a Milan side looking to make up for lost ground in Serie A.

The game between the Biancorossi and the Rossoneri kicks off at 17.00 UK time at the Stadio Brianteo in Monza.

Monza have exceeded expectations in their first ever topflight campaign and the team currently sit 10th in the table, 12 points ahead of relegation candidates Hellas Verona.

Young coach Raffaele Palladino rose to the task following his promotion from the Primavera side and has guided them to memorable victories, including away to Juventus.

The Biancorossi’s only absence is Brazilian left back Carlos Augusto, out with a muscle issue.

Defending champions Milan have been in a run of poor form in 2023, struggling to show their best since the Christmas break.

Stefano Pioli’s side have only won two of their last seven league outings, but did show resilience in their 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

The Rossoneri are without Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi and Ismael Bennacer, all of whom are out injured. Fikayo Tomori is also in doubt due to a muscle issue.

When these two teams met back in October, Milan cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win at home.

Probable line-ups for Monza vs Milan

Monza (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Izzo, Pablo Marì, Marlon; Birindelli, Pessina, Rovella, Ciurria; Mota Carvalho, Caprari; Petagna.

Milan (3-4-3): Tatarusanu; Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori; Messias, Tonali, Krunic, Theo Hernandez; Brahim Diaz, Leao; Origi.
