Paulo Dybala did not take part in the full training session with his teammates on Thursday, so it is very unlikely he’ll be fit enough to start under two weeks after a muscular injury.

That means Higuain will be the centre-forward with Ronaldo and most probably Cuadrado as part of the trident attack, leaving Danilo to take the right-back slot instead.

Federico Bernardeschi is the other alternative upfront, at which point Cuadrado would return to the right side of defence.

The only other choices Maurizio Sarri has to make are in midfield, where Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic and Adrien Rabiot are the favourites.

Lyon have played just one competitive match since March 8, holding PSG to a 0-0 draw in extra time in the Coupe de la Ligue Final on July 31, eventually losing on penalties.

That marked the comeback of Depay, who had been out of action since his anterior cruciate ligament rupture in December.

The Dutchman is expected to start at the top of a 3-5-2 formation with Dembele, while 22-year-old creative talent Aouar pulls the strings in midfield.

As Lyon are generally a defend and counter team, and in this case have a 1-0 first leg lead to protect, this is going to look more like a 5-3-2 formation for most of the game, with Maxence Caqueret, January signing Bruno Guimaraes and Aouar in midfield.

Leo Dubois and Maxwel Cornet aim to sit deep and break at pace.

Probable line-ups

Juventus (4-3-3): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, De Ligt, Alex Sandro; Bentancur, Pjanic, Rabiot; Cuadrado, Higuain, Ronaldo

Lyon (3-5-2): Lopes; Denayer, Marcelo, Marçal; Dubois, Caqueret, Guimarães, Aouar, Cornet; M Dembélé, Depay
