Ciro Immobile will be dropped after firing blanks in his last 10 caps, so 36-year-old Sampdoria hitman Quagliarella is given his first competitive start for the Azzurri since a 3-2 World Cup qualifier against Cyprus on October 14, 2009. Remarkably, that too was played at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.
His last start was in a 1-1 friendly against Switzerland in June 2010, where he scored the equaliser.
The current Serie A Capocannoniere is set to be partnered by Juventus pair Kean and Bernardeschi, while Sassuolo’s Stefano Sensi will step in for Jorginho.
Juventus full-back Spinazzola should get the nod at right-back to replace injured Florenzi and Piccini, one day after his 26th birthday.
Finally, Leonardo Bonucci is expected to reunite with former Milan teammate Alessio Romagnoli in central defence as Giorgio Chiellini is rested.
