The Lega Serie A has confirmed the decision to drop Mediapro’s television rights bid and proceed to private negotiations.

On May 28, all 20 clubs voted to terminate the contract, but the Spanish broadcaster came up with some last-minute guarantees.

Those were presented at today’s meeting, but ANSA reports lawyers were unconvinced and the clubs decided to proceed to private negotiations.

Rather than putting all of the rights up for tender, the Serie A clubs will now work out a series of packages to be sold privately.
