Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has warned his squad that they are playing for their futures over the rest of the season.

That has led to speculation that Genoa may take their foot off the gas in the next few weeks, a claim Preziosi is infuriated by.

“If I see that the players are not putting the effort in then those individuals will be sold within a month of the campaign coming to an end,” the patron noted.

“We can't do any calculations. We just have to think about playing each game as they come. I've told this to the Coach too.”

The team appears to be taking the message seriously, having beaten relegation battlers Brescia and Lecce in recent weeks.
