Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has already turned down the ‘ridiculous’ takeover bid from a group including Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani.

No sooner had the reports emerged of a formal proposal, it had already been rejected out of hand by the current club patron.

“It’s a ridiculous offer,” Preziosi told Telenord.

“I dare them to publish the details of it so everyone can see and realise how ridiculous it is.”

Preziosi has said for three years that he wants to sell Genoa, but has not been able to agree terms.

The latest proposal was made by a group of Italian investors, including Matteo Manfredi and Leeds United owner Radrizzani.

Genoa are the oldest football club in Italy, but narrowly escaped relegation from Serie A on the final day for two seasons running.

“It’s a joke, not a serious offer,” Preziosi then told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“What’s the point in taking on the debt and then maybe investing later on? That’s not what is good for Genoa. I was also warned of the offer and the news was immediately made public, even before I got the chance to evaluate it.

“I urged these gentlemen to confirm their offer, so people can get an idea of what I’m dealing with, but I doubt they will.”
