Former Genoa President Enrico Preziosi revealed he was on the verge of closing deals with Robert Lewandowski and Lautaro Martinez. ‘I still regret this’.

Preziosi has left the position as President of Genoa after 18 years with the club, as 777 Partners officially took over at Marassi on November 15.

Official: Zangrillo the new Genoa President

Alberto Zangrillo has been appointed the new President at the Rossoblu and Preziosi was asked if he had any regrets on the transfer market.

He spoke about a ‘stupid thing’ stopping Poland international from moving to Genoa and the Poland international has since one of the greatest goalscorers in the game.

The Bundesliga star has bagged 21 goals in 15 games in 2021-22 and continues to provide incredible numbers in the Bayern Munich shirt.

“Yeah, definitely Lewandowski,” Preziosi told Il Secolo XIX. “I still regret not having sealed the agreement we already had reached, over a stupid thing.

“I would have liked him to be at the centre of Genoa’s attack, I still have strong regrets about it.”

Lautaro: ‘A great year with Argentina’

Preziosi also revealed he was close to securing a move for Argentina international Martinez, who ended up joining Inter from Racing Club in July 2018.

“And then Lautaro Martinez, I had almost sealed the deal with Racing, but in the end I was unable to bring him here.”
