It was reported this week that the Rossoneri’s joint-CEO had met with Preziosi about a deal for the player, who is co-owned by Roma, a situation which must be resolved this summer.

“Some say that I spoke with Galliani,” the Grifone patron explained as he spoke to Telenord.

“These are just colourful stories made up to fill newspapers.

“He [Bertolacci] knows my thoughts, and there’s only one problem – he’s co-owned by Roma. If we could have sorted it out before now it would have been better.

“Not having done that exposes us to some problems, there are several teams who want Bertolacci. It will depend on our ability to negotiate with Roma, because co-ownerships are no longer allowed.

“We’ll have to figure out if he’ll stay with Roma or Genoa.

“If he’s to stay with Genoa, then I’ll speak to the lad and see if he really wants to stay with us. The truth is that if a player wants to stay, no-one will force him to leave.”
