Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has denied ever considering leaving the club even if he threatened to do so earlier this season.

Preziosi was fed up with the abuse his son was receiving from the supporters after helping out in the transfer market last summer.

Speaking to Radio Sportiva, Preziosi said: "I never seriously thought about abandoning Genoa also because the fans always showed their attachment to the shirt and to the club.

"Naturally it's also important to put out little fires that can be created."

Asked to reveal the reasons behind Genoa's mini revival, he said: "A mixture of circumstances and investments have allowed us to find ourselves again from Palacio to Kucka and Paloschi to Floro Flores.

"Davide Ballardini isn't the most talkative but he works very well and very professionally. The results are coming.

"Winning the derby has given us a boost and an added motivation to do well."
