Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has claimed the sacking of Daniele Faggiano was a decision he must take and confirmed he trusts coach Rolando Maran.
Faggiano had been appointed Genoa’s sporting director last summer but was suddenly sacked by the Grifone on Saturday.
“It was something I had to do,” Preziosi told Il Secolo XIX.

“It was something I had to do,” Preziosi told Il Secolo XIX.
“It’s not a choice I enjoy, but it’s a decision that I must make. I don’t like to talk about my employees and give judgements about them.
“Now there is [Francesco] Marroccu who will help us. He knows the environment well and he can help us to reach our target.
“I trust [Ronaldo] Maran, now it is up to the players to reach results onto the pitch.”
Genoa sit 19th in Serie A table but won the Coppa Italia Della Lanterna on Thursday.
