Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has taken issue with Juventus' use of Claudio Marchisio in Sunday's Serie A game. "We are evidently stupid," he noted.

The Old Lady won the tie 2-0 with Marchisio netting the opener just days after he was forced to withdraw from the Italy squad due to injury.

"We are evidently stupid by allowing our players to respond to international call-ups," stated the Marassi chief.

"Our players were tired after they rightly honoured their commitments to their national sides in the week.

"Juventus were crafty in not allowing Milos Krasic or Marchisio respond. You all saw how injured they were against Genoa…"

Krasic, who also scored against the Rossoblu, returned to the side on Sunday after weeks out with a thigh issue.

"There is not a lot to say about the players who didn't play for their national sides," responded Juventus director general Beppe Marotta.

"Marchisio presented himself at Italy's headquarters, but was sent home after the national team doctors diagnosed him with a muscle problem. What more could we have done?"
