2023 has not started well at all for Stefano Pioli’s Milan and questions are now being asked about the Italian coach.

The Rossoneri suffered a miserable 4-0 loss away to Lazio on Tuesday and had hoped to bounce back against a struggling Sassuolo, but things went from bad to worse as Pioli’s side suffered a shock 5-2 defeat to the Neroverdi. It was the first time since April 1997 that they’d conceded five at home and the first time in the club’s history that they let in five goals in back to back league outings.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, pressure is now starting to mount on Pioli, with some suggesting that Milan dismiss the coach after the team’s on-pitch struggles this season.

The defending champions now sit 12 points behind league leaders Napoli and look unlikely to retain the Scudetto. The team have already been eliminated from the Coppa Italia, losing to Torino, and suffered defeat in the Supercoppa Italiana against rivals Inter.

Pioli and Milan will be hoping to find a little redemption in their upcoming Champions League clash with Tottenham. A good showing in Europe could be exactly what the coach and his players need to bounce back after their disastrous start to the year.
