Former Milan star and Liberia President George Weah played an official friendly for his country – at the age of 51.
Weah retired from football in 2003 to concentrate on politics, becoming his nation’s leader in January.
However, that did not stop him from making a 79-minute appearance during Liberia’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria on Tuesday.
Althought the ex-Chelsea striker did not score, he nonetheless held his own against several top-level players, including Kelechi Iheanacho and Henry Onyekuru.

Weah remains the only African recipient of the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards, while he scored 58 goals in five seasons for Milan.
The match was staged in honour of the No 14 jersey he wore in the prime of his career, which Liberia retired.
