Cesare Prandelli is already making plans for Euro 2012, as “a lot will depend on how the first game goes against Spain.”

The Azzurri have been put in the same group as the Republic of Ireland and Croatia, while their opening match is against the reigning World and European champions on June 10.

“Now we’ve got to plan everything out, as you can’t just prepare for a tournament like this right before it begins,” Coach Prandelli told the Corriere dello Sport.

“It involves logistics, bringing the players on board, doing specifically targeted fitness training and I want everyone to feel fully involved.

“Everyone keeps talking about Spain and Ireland, but we must not forget Croatia are in our group too.

“I repeat, there is no time to lose, especially as a lot will depend on how the first game goes against Spain.”

There are reports Prandelli is eager to plan mini-get-togethers at the Coverciano training ground during the season, working with defenders, then midfielders, etc.

It has already been confirmed the Azzurri will have their Euro 2012 camp in Krakow-Wieliczka, Poland. The Marshall Pilsudsky Stadium and the airport are both 20 minutes away.

The Italy camp will be very close to the base for Fabio Capello’s England squad.
