Claudio Marchisio had broken the deadlock after 56 seconds, but Branislav Ivanovic snatched an equaliser before the break.
“When the team plays the way it does in the opening 20 minutes, it has to go for the second goal. We were ‘content' with fancy footwork and nothing more.
“The midfield had to do a certain type of work, as we wanted to spread the play wide rather than go through the middle and did it well.
“Obviously with little time, the new players have to wait a little bit and have patience.”
